Inbound
This article explains the Indents module. You'll learn how to track and manage inbound goods at receiving facility.
What is Inbound?
Inbound means managing shipments that are coming into your facility, like a warehouse.
The Inbound part of the system helps the team know when shipments will arrive and what to do with them.
You can use it to:
- See where shipments are and when they will get to you.
- Mark shipments as arrived or delivered.
- Note if anything is missing or damaged.
- Check for delivery proof from the transporter.
How Inbound Module works?
The Inbound module in the Transportation Management System (TMS) helps the receiving team manage incoming shipments. Once a load is created and dispatched, the Inbound module tracks that shipment until it reaches the delivery location (like a warehouse or depot).
In Inbound, you can perform the following tasks:
- Track shipments to monitor their status, ETA, and movement in real-time.
- Mark shipments as reported or delivered when necessary.
- Capture shortages and damages for shipments.
- Review and process shipments awaiting POD upload by the transporter.
Accessing Inbound
- From the left navigation go to Center Manager and select Inbound.
- This opens the Inbound screen.
The Inbound section is divided into three tabs:
- Expected: Displays shipments that are yet to arrive at the warehouse.
- Arrived: Lists shipments that have reached the facility but are not yet marked as delivered.
- POD Pending: Includes shipments for which the Proof of Delivery (POD) is still awaited.
Tracking Incoming Shipments in the Expected Tab
- In Inbound, under the Expected tab, you can view and manage the following.
- Check the list of loads that are expected to arrive.
- Automatic Update: The system will automatically mark a vehicle as Reported when it reaches the facility.
- Manual Reporting:
- If needed, click Mark Reported in the Actions column to manually mark a vehicle as reported.
- To record shortages or damages:
- Navigate to the Indents page.
- Search for the Load ID of the delivered shipment.
- Click the Load ID to open the Details Page and update shortage or damage details.
Managing Arrived Shipments in the Arrived Tab
- From the Arrived tab, you can view and manage the following:
- View all vehicles that have reached the warehouse.
- Automatic Update: The system will automatically mark a load as Delivered when the vehicle leaves the facility.
- Manual Delivery:
- If needed, click Mark Delivered in the Actions column to manually mark a load as delivered.
- Once marked as delivered, the load will move to the POD Pending tab.
Processing Shipments in the POD Pending Tab
- From the POD Pending, you can view and manage the following:
- Check the list of loads awaiting Proof of Delivery (POD).
- Once the transporter uploads the POD through the Transporter Panel, the load will automatically move out of this tab.
Additional functionalities
- Filters and Search: Use the filters or search bar to quickly find specific loads by Load ID, transporter, truck number, or other criteria.
- Actions: Look for action buttons like Mark Reported or Mark Delivered in the Actions column to manually update shipment status if needed.
- Details Page: For any load, click its Load ID to see detailed information and update shortages or damages.
